Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The Quality Control (QC) Programmer I is an entry-level role responsible for programming coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), vision systems, and form gauges to support the quality control and metrology functions. The role includes collecting inspection data, troubleshooting gauge issues, and supporting inspection teams across Plants 1, 2, and 3. Based at Plant 1, the QC Programmer plays a key role in developing accurate and reliable measurement programs using ZEISS CALYPSO and other systems, with a growth path into higher-level programmer roles.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following outlines essential duties, though other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Develop and maintain measurement programs for:CMMs using ZEISS CALYPSO.Vision systems and form gauges (Keyence, Rondcom, etc.).Retrieve and interpret engineering prints and CAD models to guide programming.Collect and document inspection data using company metrology templates.Perform startup, calibration checks, and daily verification of measurement systems.Set up AutoRun programs; program offline using or without 3D models.Troubleshoot gauge issues and identify root causes when equipment is down.Recommend temporary alternative gauges or methods for inspection teams.Document and communicate unresolved equipment issues to QC Programmer II, including vendor, gauge ID, and problem details.Enter and collect inspection data into SAP.Support correlation, stability, and Gage R&R studies.Compile and share measurement and failure data with leads or senior programmers.Maintain clean and safe work areas and follow housekeeping protocols.Perform other support duties as assigned by the supervisor or programming lead.Walk/stand for extended periods and move between Plant 1, 2, and 3 (within 3 miles).Lift and carry up to 30 pounds unassisted.Frequent use of hands and fingers for programming and gauge operation.Ability to work with small parts and perform repetitive tasks.
Work Environment
Primary work location is Plant 1, with support responsibilities at Plants 2 and 3.Work performed in a mix of production and office settings.Occasional exposure to temperature and noise fluctuations.Standard schedule is first shift, with weekend work available per overtime policies.Physical Requirements
Walk/stand for extended periods and move between Plant 1, 2, and 3 (within 3 miles).Lift and carry up to 30 pounds unassisted.Frequent use of hands and fingers for programming and gauge operation.Ability to work with small parts and perform repetitive tasks.QualificationsAssociate’s degree or technical training in a related field (preferred).2+ years of experience operating and programming CMMs or other metrology tools.Familiarity with ZEISS CALYPSO is highly preferred; knowledge of Keyence/Rondcom a plus.Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret complex blueprints and CAD models.Working knowledge of inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).Basic familiarity with SAP (preferred) and inspection data systems.Proficient with MS Windows, Word, Excel, and OutlookStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work independently while supporting multiple buildings and teams.Ethical judgment and attention to detail in handling inspection data and gauge setups.Additional Information
Salary and Benefits:
The hourlr range for the position is $18/hour. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. The Recruiter can share more details about the specific salary range during the interview process.
