The Quality Assurance Inspector / Technician is responsible for ensuring that products meet industry and certification standards and identify opportunities to error proof processes. The Quality Assurance Inspector provides a thorough sampling of raw materials, intermediates, in process and finished product. They provide the QA sampling plan for the incoming raw material along with all in process products during manufacturing operations. Quality Assurance Inspector provides direction to manufacturing on quality issues. Quality Assurance Inspector also provides input to manufacturing and production engineer investigations, change control and NCMR’s.

Please note: this is a fully on-site role in the Rochester, NY metro area. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Compensation for this role is $23-25/hour. Hours are approximately 7am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.

 

QA TECHNICIAN and PRODUCTION SUPPORT

Reports to Quality Manager

Job Description:

The Quality Assurance Inspector / Technician is responsible for ensuring that products meet industry and certification standards and identify opportunities to error proof processes. The Quality Assurance Inspector provides a thorough sampling of raw materials, intermediates, in process and finished product. They provide the QA sampling plan for the incoming raw material along with all in process products during manufacturing operations. Quality Assurance Inspector provides direction to manufacturing on quality issues. Quality Assurance Inspector also provides input to manufacturing and production engineer investigations, change control and NCMR’s.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine process audits to ensure that production personnel are following all related ISO, production routing and work instruction procedures & practices. If any non-conformances are identified through the course of these audits, effective (written) reports of the audit findings will be made and communicated.

Provide in-process inspection of components, WIP and finished goods to established criteria and specifications.

Assist in training personnel to current job standards, workflow, and process steps.

Observe hydrotest inspection, review all paperwork for completeness and accuracy.

Work with AI inspector to identify areas for improvement to our current weld and fabrication process in conformance to our ASME Code Manual and ISO quality manual.

Perform in-process inspections and final certification of PLEKX products as required to meet performance requirements and customer specifications.

Assist manufacturing engineer to drive continuous improvement in all phases of manufacturing to ensure safe procedures, identify productivity improvements and employee engagement.

Oversee non-destructive examination when required and qualify results.

Maintenance of inspection records per component, WIP and finished goods

Initiate NCMR’s for non-compliant products and actively participate in the root cause and corrective action.

Report quality program activities to Quality Manager and recommend corrective and preventive action.

Coordinate and participate in customer 3rd party inspections.

Oversee inspection of incoming materials, especially AMSE/PED/UKCA Code materials, so that all criteria is met including, but not limited to, traceability, measurement, markings, lot control, etc..  Perform sampling and inspection of incoming raw materials and components according to applicable specifications and procedures.

Perform the duties associated with tools and test equipment calibration and maintenance verification as required.

Interact with manufacturing providing positive, constructive input when quality issues are identified.

Enter data in various QA Databases

Support customer document requirements: PPAP, Databook requirements, etc. Being able to generate or gather documents as needed.

Generate CofC documentation for shipping & Customer service, when required.

Provided new employee quality training.

May occasionally be required to perform back up duty for Quality Manager.

Qualifications:

Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

5 years relevant quality assurance or control experience.

Must have excellent attendance and good work record.

Must have good math skills and good proficiency in MS office application. Able to use spreadsheet and statistical software.

Must be able to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Must be able to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, associated, and the general public.

Must be a team player.

Capable of physical mobility including walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, pushing, pulling and lifting (up to 35 pounds periodically).

Capable of visual acuity to include distinguishing color variation and detecting defects.

Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms.

Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Pay Range:

20.00 - 30.00
