Quality Assurance Supervisor

This position is responsible for quality and food safety element controls related to operation, auditing policy and procedure, leading quality improvement projects, driving defect prevention and detections. Acts as the primary business unit liaison to Corporate QA.

Leads and monitors quality and food safety improvement projectsAudits implementation of quality and food safety system for effectiveness by verifying operation activities to Gate Gourmet, Customer and Regulatory specificationMonitors corrective action systemEducates (trains) unit staff and managers in quality and food safety related issuesPlays a key role in developing and implementing a comprehensive quality and food safety programChampions the total quality improvement efforts and initiates problem solving efforts and assures implementationDrives prevention vs. detection of defectsCoordinates actions to prevent the occurrences of non-conformitiesMaintains customer compliance resolutionResponsible for the maintenance of key performance metrics for the Quality Compliance organizationControls food safety and quality of processing and manufacturing within the businessSupports customer audits, government audits to meet complianceVerifies and insures company policies and procedures are followedInsures quality specifications and requirements are followed and metDevelops Standard Operating ProceduresResponsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specificationTrains and monitors unit staff and managers employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity and security with minimum labor and costsResponsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and managers and liaises appropriately with HR and other support functionsManages work flow balancing - - the division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift including assignment of responsibilities and workstations

Qualifications

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent with experience in related discipline requiredCollege or university degree in related discipline 

Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience in Food safety control practices (GMP's, SOP's, and HACCP) and quality program control is requiredMinimum 2 years of supervisory experience working in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering environment or equivalent experience in the related field preferredExperience working in the airline industry is preferred

Minimum skill requirements:

Intermediate level Microsoft office tool skills (excel, word)Knowledge of quality food safety and quality auditing, inspection methodsDetail orientedStrong organizational skills, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-taskStrong interpersonal skills, interact well with multiple departments as requiredAble to work with little supervisionExcellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills

Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

HACCP certification requiredServeSafe certification is a plus since this environment is food service basedSix sigma is an asset

Preferred skills:

Excellent analytical skillsBasic statistics calculation, and/or mathematical comprehension including:Pareto chartControl chartHistogramTime series (run) chartMultiplication, division, addition, subtraction, summation, measure of central tendency, measure of variation , process capabilityAlgebraic conceptsProject management skillsKnowledge of PHAC regulationsBasic lean, six sigma knowledge, and continuous improvement understanding a plus

Compensation Range: $70,000 to $80,000 gross annual income
