Job Description
Under limited supervision, the Quality Assurance Specialist performs product inspection and audits of quality assurance programs. The role involves sampling and testing incoming components, raw materials, packaging lines, and manufacturing processes to ensure conformance to requirements and specifications. The specialist identifies materials and processes as Conforming or Nonconforming, writes reports of findings for review, and enters required data into the system. Tasks and assignments may be complex and non-routine.
Responsibilities
+ Analyze and interpret drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, and measuring instruments required.
+ Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications, including mechanical, electrical, and chemical inspections.
+ Notify supervisors and personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these issues.
+ Discuss inspection results with responsible parties and recommend necessary corrective actions.
+ Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, moisture content, and quantities inspected.
+ Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
+ Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications using instruments like rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
+ Experience programming and using Keyence optical and contact sensor metrology systems is required.
+ Experience using a manual Coordinate Measuring Machine is a plus.
+ Compare colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
+ Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
+ Prepare first article reports and enter required data into computer systems.
+ Document inspection findings and complete rejection reports.
+ Ensure raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet company standards.
+ Apply approval or rejection labels to bulk raw materials once analytical data is evaluated.
+ Assess draft and final label copy utilizing knowledge of labeling regulations.
+ Minimize downtime by reducing production rework and recalls.
+ Follow established procedures for discarding or rejecting products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
Essential Skills
+ Experience programming and using Keyence optical and contact sensor metrology systems.
+ Basic knowledge of AS9100 standards.
+ Competence and familiarity with CRM software.
+ Basic knowledge of metrology and associated requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Technical Certificate in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience.
+ Experience using a manual Coordinate Measuring Machine is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is located in Hunt Valley, MD, where the team is responsible for building Fuel Cells & Hydrogen Generation equipment. The facilities are focused on splitting water to extract hydrogen for government customers, steel manufacturing, power plants, space, and underwater vehicles. The work environment involves using advanced technologies and requires adherence to established safety and operational procedures.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $47.00/hr.
