Quality Assurance Specialist

As a member of the Quality Assurance team, the Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for performing standardized qualitative and quantitative tests on work-in-process and finished products to ensure compliance with company and/or customer quality standards.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Performs visual, dimensional and functional inspections of assemblies and components.Lead & organize the Material Review Board (MRB) updates in the cage with internal and external participants.Coordinate and report-out on Supplier Incoming Discrepancy Report (IDR) and Customer/Process Issues (PI) investigations and updates.Serve as the primary point of contact for customers to identify root cause of quality issues.Observes and sign-off on air and hydrostatic tests.Data entry of quality and product updates into the ERP system QAD as needed.Conduct analytical tests at various stages of manufacturing and packaging to ensure compliance with standardsApprove batches for packaging and conforming finished product for shipment and places non-conforming product on hold for further analysisComplete corresponding transactions in ERP SystemFile and maintain retained samplesCalibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentationPrepare reagents and solutions for use in testingPerform Laboratory test such as Acid Digestion and TitrationEscalate any non-conformances through proper channelsCompares tests reports to specifications.Follow all required safety protocols when handling lab chemicalsOrganize and file associated inspection records.Assists in investigation of process related quality issues.Initiates non-conforming material reports and hold tags.Organizes work area for efficient workflow.Participate in the effort to develop, document and sustain Standard Work, and develop visual aids.Ensure compliance and integration of regulatory requirements, (UL, ASME, WQA etc.) into product line as defined by management, engineering, sales and marketing.Perform quality audits on finished units / batches and work in process.Maintain logs and records in accordance with Quality System requirements.Monitor and perform tasks according to the calibration procedure.Perform other assigned duties as needed.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

MANAGEMENT: This position has no direct reports. 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Minimum of 5 years Manufacturing experience in Production or Quality AssuranceASME or WQA experience preferredLab experience preferredExperience in Root Cause analysis processesASQ Knowledge – preferredProblem solving skillsExperience with Lean Manufacturing preferred

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
