Quality Assurance Manager - Southport, NC

Job Summary:
The QA Manager is responsible for leading the quality, food safety and verification of conformance to regulatory requirements in support of plant operations.  This position will provide direction to production in making quality decisions, investigating non-conforming product and providing leadership during process upsets.  This position reports directly to the plant manager and indirectly reports to the divisional Quality Food Safety (QFS) director.   

Position Description:Lead a team of individuals that oversee the quality and product safety programs to ensure compliance with ADM, regulatory and customer requirementsVerify quality and product safety checks are properly completed to meet procedural requirementsVerify high risk activities are being completed before shipment of productsSchedule monitoring activities such as carryover studies, uniformity studies, scale checks, and traceabilityMonitor products for quality parametersCommunicate to production (and divisional QFS leadership as appropriate) when product falls out of specification, document any noticeable discrepancy, take corrective actions to eliminate the issuePrepare the facility for compliance during customer audits and third party certifications (FSSC, FAMI-QS, etc.)Lead the facility during these customer audits and third party certificationsProvide food safety trainings to new hires, contractors and refresher training as needed and maintain training recordsManage monthly GMP plant inspections per divisional requirementsInvestigate manufacturing errors and complete proper reports including CAPA reports.Use deviation reports to justify the disposition of the product and approve the release or disposal of the productIn partnership with Operations, conduct complaint investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actionsDevelop a plan to eliminate the root cause and follow through with implementationEnsure equipment validation procedures for high risk products are completedOversee Pest Control ProgramFollow up on recommendations and Corrective ActionsPCQI CoordinatorMaintain the food safety plan, ensure control points are being managed per program requirements, risk assessments are accurate and up to dateCoordinate and lead routine food safety meetings and management reviewsManage product recalls from the plant level with guidance from divisional leadership when necessaryDevelop and maintain site specific work instructionsLead the facility through FDA and scored internal auditsCollaborate with QC Manager regarding direction for sample retains and product testing required for divisional programsRequirements:BS degree in Food Science or related experience AND/OR 5+ years in quality experience in feed/foodKnowledge of FDA and state regulatory requirementsTrained in Preventive Controls for Human Food and/or Animal Food preferredHighly organizedEffective use of Microsoft office applicationsStrong communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and lead change among a team of production/sales/quality colleaguesStrong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis skillsThis position requires the ability to work in a variety of conditions such as an office environment, indoors/outdoors, hot/cold weather as well as physical demands such as standing, kneeling, and sitting for prolonged periods of time, climbing stairs/ladders and the ability to work in confined spaces in a variety of environmental conditions.Relocation Assistance is available with this position.
