Quality Assurance Manager (QAM)

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis.

The Role:
We are interested in talking to self-motivated Candidates possessing the ability to work collaboratively in the Quality Assurance space at GM’s newest truck and SUV assembly plant.  As a Quality Assurance Manager (QAM), you will work directly for the Quality Manager and collaboratively with personnel from quality operations, quality engineering, assembly manufacturing and VAA manufacturing.  You will be initially responsible to help set up the quality processes at the plant, working in conjunction with the Quality Launch Manager.  The role will then migrate into providing general oversight and guidance from a quality assurance perspective.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Set up the baseline quality process at Orion Assembly, ensuring Quality Manual, GMS BIQ and PQRS requirements from a quality perspective are integrated

Support GCA/Plant 5F meetings and facilitate if needed

Support DRR/DRL/EFTQ improvement

Lead Trace Scorecard management process

Support GEPICS trace management process

Support GMS implementation with specific focus on the BIQ statements

Attend meetings as needed:  staff, 5F, GCA, PFC

Drive ISO activities as the plant ISO lead and manage External ISO Audits

Manage Quality Requirements workflows as the plant QR lead

Support Layered Audit process

Support GMS Basketweave process

Lead the GRA process

Support the PFC process

Support SUFS process

Lead EI and F50 external communications process

Support the ILM process

Support BPD Level 2 activities

Support BIQ SME certification process

Manage GCA auditors and torque/process monitors as needed

Support GCA monitoring audit

Support Internal Audit process (PCPs, TEBs, GRAs, QRs, etc.)

Support yard sweeps as needed

Coach, teach and support problem solving as needed

Champion cost reduction opportunities for the quality department as needed



Additional Job Description

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

5+ years experience in manufacturing 

Highly developed oral and written communication skills

High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

Strong knowledge of quality processes

Managerial courage

Customer focus

Strong decision-making ability

What Will Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualification):

Production supervision experience; assembly plant preferred

Assembly manufacturing process knowledge/experience

Quality Systems, Operations or Quality Assurance experience
