This Position reports to:

Manufacturing Unit Manager
 

The Quality and HSE Manager is responsible for maintaining a quality and HSE culture in our facility. Exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations and reducing cost of the non-quality. 

 

Leads a team of advisors and specialists, builds and ensures capability/expertise in the team to support line managers and employees in the implementation of policies, standards, programs, and practices in their assigned area of responsibility. You will manage our reliability lab as well as customer complaints/returns including root cause investigations. You oversee developing and maintaining the quality management system and tools and all aspects regarding quality and HSE, in with our guidance from ABB Groupe. 

 

This role is contributing to the Electrification, Smart Buildings division of ABB and is located in Dorval. 

 

The work model is 100% on site. 

 

Your Role: Own the Challenge   

Coach and supervise Quality and HSE team. 

Analys, improve and assure proper follow up in regards of customer complaints 

Analys of the Quality gap’s and make sure to communicate with all parties in taking proper actions. 

Participate to the development activities of new products and product changes. 

Making sure that the customer’s voice is represented in the local business, and presenting the management team with customer experience feedback  

Enabling and coaching all employees to evaluate risks, problems, and solutions from a customer/stakeholder point of view and improvement set of minds. 

Performing audits and ensuring the use of analytics to identify risks, failures, and non-conformances, and ensure that appropriate action is taken  

Serves as the primary HSE interface within their assigned area of responsibility and cultivates a high-performance culture with a strong focus HSE 

Assists the line managers and supervisors in their respective organization in understanding their obligations, liabilities, and requirements for role fulfillment, as per local HSE law and ABB management requirements. 

Ensure that Quality and HSE capabilities are optimized and aligned to standards, processes, guidelines and best practices. 

Ensure their own area of responsibility is audited 

Reports Quality and HSE performance and progress with respect to the implementation of the group-level Quality and HSE objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), implement action plans or prevention plan as required 

Participate in the budget reviews and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets. 

Ensures feedback is provided to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within their own unit and across ABB  

Collaborates with other functions and business partners to drive Quality and HSE performance 

Ensures all staff (under scope) understand ABB’s core values and group safety and integrity standards and accordingly 

Implements and ensures compliance with ABB code of conduct, global and local standards, tools, policies, and processes in their assigned area 

 

 

What it takes to run what runs the world 

3-5 years of experience in electric or electronic manufacturing environment, working as Quality Manager with direct supervision or similar experience 

Proficiency in French and English is mandatory. French is required. English is necessary to communicate with clients outside of Quebec. 

Sound knowledge of electrical safety codes and laboratory management excellence 

Proven track record in managing a QMS 

A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills 

A bachelor’s degree in electronic or electrical engineering an asset
