👩‍👧‍👦 About the Role
This is a challenging yet rewarding role where you’ll work with children and families at risk, helping to ensure they are safe, supported, and empowered.
You will:
Hold a complex caseload within Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and court proceedingsCarry out Section 47 enquiries and prepare cases for Initial Child Protection ConferencesLead on Child & Family Assessments, with a strong emphasis on early planning for permanenceWork directly with children and their families using evidence-based toolsCollaborate with partner agencies (health, education, police) to deliver joined-up supportContribute to sustainable, positive outcomes through robust planning and meaningful engagementYou’ll also work closely with Integrated Prevention and Early Help services to promote local, community-based solutions once statutory intervention is no longer needed.

We’re seeking a confident and compassionate professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is committed to excellence in safeguarding.
You must have:
A degree in Social Work (or equivalent: DipSW, CQSW, CSS)Registration with Social Work EnglandEnhanced DBS check (clean)Access to a vehicle for travel across the localityMinimum 4 years post-qualified experience working with children and familiesStrong background in Child Protection, Children in Need, and Court workExperience supporting families through pre-proceedings and public law proceedingsIn-depth understanding of legislation, policies, and safeguarding frameworksProven ability to carry out direct work with children and familiesExcellent communication, mediation, and negotiation skillsConfidence in multi-agency working and professional decision-makingA flexible, creative, and reflective approach to practice
🧠 Key Responsibilities
Conduct full assessments of risk and need in line with statutory requirementsDevelop and manage effective care and protection plansMaintain a manageable caseload with regular case reviewsEnsure the voices of children are central to all assessments and plansWork collaboratively with multi-agency teams to achieve the best outcomesOffer support to students and less experienced practitioners as needed💼 Why Join Pertemps?
