About the RoleAs a Workshop QA/QC Inspector, you’ll play a crucial role in controlling and verifying the quality of all mechanical, welding, and surface coating activities within the workshop. You will be responsible for ensuring that all tasks are completed in line with Metso specifications, Australian Standards, and customer requirements — maintaining high workshop QA/QC standards across component refurbishments and repairs.
This role involves monitoring work processes, performing inspections at key stages, maintaining records, and providing feedback to the workshop team and supervisors.

Conduct welding inspections in line with applicable standards and procedures — including visual inspection, dimensional checks, weld mapping, and review of welding records.
Inspect surface preparation and protective coatings — including environmental monitoring, surface profile checks, DFT (dry film thickness) readings, and adhesion testing.
Manage calibration and maintenance records for precision measuring, NDT, and inspection equipment.
Complete and maintain ITPs or MDR's (Inspection & Test Plans, Manufacturer Data Reports), characteristic record sheets, weld and coatings inspection reports, and QA records in designated job files.
Log non-conformances, defects, and feedback reports via the feedback portal and manage corrective actions through to closure.
Liaise with third-party contractors for NDT, welding qualifications, and coating inspections when required.
Read and interpret technical drawings, OEM specifications, weld procedures, coatings data sheets, and job instructions.
Provide clear and detailed inspection findings and quality feedback to Repairs Coordinators, Leading Hands, and the Engineering team.
Monitor workshop compliance with Metso quality standards, procedures, and customer specifications.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop QA/QC function.
About YouYou’re a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong experience in workshop-based mechanical, welding, and coatings quality control. You have a sound understanding of OEM mining equipment refurbishments and a practical, collaborative approach to maintaining high standards.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Mechanical Trade Certificate (Fitting & Machining, Boilermaking) or Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical).
Coating and/or welding inspection qualifications (ACQPA, NACE/AMPP, CSWIP 3.0/3.1, WTIA or equivalent) — highly regarded.
