Job Purpose
The QA/QC Inspector (E/I) is responsible for executing electrical and instrumentation inspection activities in support of QA/QC program requirements across CAT IV–VI projects. The role ensures all E/I inspections comply with Client LNG standards, project specifications, and international codes.
As the field-level focal point, the inspector works under the direction of the QA/QC Engineer and is responsible for overseeing inspection readiness, verifying contractor performance, and maintaining inspection records to ensure consistent delivery of quality.
Job Context & Challenges Performing inspections in live LNG operational environments requires strict compliance with permit-to-work systems, coordination with operations and HSE, and detailed planning to minimize operational impact. Managing inspections across multiple brownfield projects with varying access limitations, aged infrastructure, and evolving project scopes while ensuring full compliance with standards and procedures. Acting as a technical interface between QA/QC, Operations, and Contractors to proactively identify and mitigate quality risks. Ensuring timely closure of E&I-related non-conformities and identifying recurring issues in legacy systems to implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
Key Responsibilities Ensure full implementation of the CLIENT Quality Management System and project-specific quality plans. Interpret discipline-specific technical specifications and ensure compliance in all inspection activities. Review contractor quality deliverables and provide clear feedback aligned with CLIENT requirements. Maintain professional relationships with contractors and third-party agencies. Verify that contractor QA/QC processes and procedures are effectively executed. Perform material/equipment receipt inspections with visual and dimensional verification. Conduct site inspections on E/I installation, testing, and calibration activities to ensure conformance to technical documents. Ensure current project documents are available and quality records are maintained per document control procedures. Submit detailed daily inspection reports highlighting quality concerns and coordinate with QA focal points for issue resolution. Lead and document Quality Walkabouts, surveillance, and audits using approved templates. Record and monitor non-conformances, supporting timely follow-up and closure. Serve as a key QA/QC representative ensuring project quality expectations are met. Conduct inspections related to Industrial Control Systems and associated software. Inspect electrical systems including LV/MV motors, switchgear, transformers, relays, lighting, UPS, and control panels. Inspect instrumentation systems including DCS, ESD, PLCs, transmitters (pressure, DP, level, flow, RTDs, thermowells), gauges, analyzers, and tubing. Inspect and verify fire & gas, PAGA, and telecom systems compliance. Ensure quality assurance over cybersecurity and network equipment (servers, switches, workstations, etc.). Monitor ongoing site activities for conformance to CLIENT technical standards. Ensure full compliance with CLIENT’s HSE requirements during all project phases. Maintain a register of quality observations and proposed resolutions aligned with CLIENT policies.
Generic Accountabilities HSE Compliance: Conduct all duties in alignment with CLIENT’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality standards. Qatarization: Support the professional development of Qatari staff (mandatory for expatriates). Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to anti-trust, competition law, and company firewall policies.
Qualifications & Certifications Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with relevant Trade Certifications in Electrical and/or Instrumentation. Strong familiarity with E&I codes and standards, including IEC, NEC, NFPA, BS, NEMA, NETA, and ATEX/IECEx 60079. Understanding of quality assurance methodologies, inspection practices, and documentation standards.
Experience Minimum 8 years’ QA/QC inspection experience in the oil & gas industry across both greenfield and brownfield environments. Substantial hands-on experience managing inspections during live shutdowns within LNG facilities. Demonstrated proficiency in QA/QC inspections throughout procurement, fabrication, installation, and construction phases. Thorough working knowledge of E&I-specific international standards and project execution under strict operational constraints.
Technical & Business Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in computer-based QA/QC and inspection systems.
