Purchasing Specialist
Description We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our client's fabrication team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing procurement activities, building strong supplier relationships, and ensuring efficient inventory management for our manufacturing operations. Responsibilities: • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective procurement. • Prepare and manage purchase orders, ensuring all specifications, pricing, and approvals are accurate and documented. • Monitor order progress, expedite deliveries when necessary, and confirm receipt of goods to maintain project timelines. • Analyze project shortage reports and proactively address potential inventory shortfalls. • Evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing and contract terms, and update vendor records to optimize sourcing strategies. • Ensure all procured materials meet quality standards and align with company and customer expectations. • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement function. • Collaborate with inventory teams, engineers, and project managers to align purchasing activities with organizational goals. • Maintain thorough procurement documentation and ensure compliance with company policies. • Drive initiatives to streamline purchasing processes and enhance operational efficiency. Requirements • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Communications, or a related field is preferred. • Minimum of 3 years of experience with procurement systems, including SAP or similar platforms. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel. • Familiarity with engineering prints, custom parts, and metal fabrication processes. • Strong understanding of or willingness to learn about the steel industry. • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively. • Highly organized, self-driven, and adaptable to changing priorities and tight deadlines. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and commit to additional hours when necessary.
