Purchasing Specialist Transdev in Nassau County, in Garden City, New York, is hiring a Purchasing Specialist. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Procurement, the Purchasing Specialist shall be responsible for drafting effective and legally enforceable contract documentation for procurement actions such as purchase orders, service agreements, vendor contracts, and modifications. Related duties include awarding and managing public and private sector-type contracts for a wide variety of commodities, vehicles, construction services and equipment required for use by a transportation organization. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, develop and solicit requests for quotes and invitations for bids.Award purchase orders and contracts in a full and open competitive environment and conduct post-award contract administration.Contribute to cross-functional teams and assist in the development of specifications and scopes of work.Arrange for vendor and contractor meetings, and for site tours.Ensure contracts & vendors adhere to contract terms & conditions and meet applicable regulations, mandatory rules and audit requirements.Analyze & tabulate bids, create change notices & negotiate contracts.Become proficient in government-funded procurements in accordance with current FTA Circular 4220.1G.Create procurement reports, and resolve disputes and claims.Participate in procurement & industry-related conventions & expositions.Perform other procurement-related ad-hoc projects, as assigned. Qualifications: B.S. in Business Management, Economics, Finance or other related field of study, plus three (3) years of applicable experience, or an appropriate combination of education and work experience.Knowledgeable of the private and/or public sector purchasing functions.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving, negotiation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.High work ethic – can perform with minimal supervision and guidance.Organized self-starter who works well on an individual basis and on team assignments.Working knowledge of Microsoft® Office Suite.Experience working in a Procurement Department of a transportation organization is a plus.Experience with Procurement-Purchasing Management Software is a plus.C.P.M., CPSM, CPPO, CPPB, CPSD and/or other applicable procurement designation, is a plus.
