We are looking for a talented Purchasing Manager for the first shift to join our team specializing in Manufacturing in Troy, MI.

+ **Develop and Execute Category Strategies** Using the Total Value Performance (TVP) approach, you’ll define and implement category strategies that optimize cost, quality, and innovation across the supply base.
+ **Protect and Leverage Intellectual Property** You’ll ensure Cummins’ IP is safeguarded in supplier agreements, enabling long-term innovation and competitive advantage through strategic legal collaboration.
+ **Lead Ethical, Value-Driven Negotiations** You’ll use structured negotiation tools to secure favorable contract terms while upholding Cummins’ procurement ethics and compliance standards.
+ **Mitigate Supply Chain Risk Proactively** By applying risk analysis tools and dual sourcing strategies, you’ll minimize disruptions and protect Cummins’ reputation, margins, and supply continuity.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**To be successful in this role you will need the following: **
+ **Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Expertise:** Deep understanding of sourcing strategies that reduce cost, minimize risk, and align with business and supply chain goals.
+ **Demand and Capacity Management Skills:** Ability to assess and manage supplier capacity and business demand to ensure supply continuity and operational efficiency.
+ **Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration:** Strong leadership to manage regional and category teams, while fostering alignment across business units, supply chain, and new product development.
+ **Continuous Improvement Mindset:** Proactive in identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance procurement performance and supply chain agility.
+ **Supplier Relationship Management:** Skilled in building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers to drive long-term value and innovation.
+ **Contract Validation and Compliance Oversight:** Attention to detail in validating sourcing activities and ensuring contracts meet business, legal, and compliance standards.
+ **Total Cost Ownership (TCO) Focus:** Ability to drive cost reductions across the supply chain by applying TCO principles and optimizing procurement processes.
+ **Team Development and Coaching:** Effective at leading and mentoring teams, providing feedback, and identifying growth opportunities to build a high-performing procurement organization.
**Education, Licenses, Certifications:**
College, university, or equivalent degree in field appropriate for the function required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
**Experience:**
Significant level of relevant work experience required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ **This role is a hybrid position where the applicant will be required to work in our Troy, MI office 3 days per week.**
+ Develops and implements global supply base for Meritor’s Driveline Business.
+ Manage team of approximately 3 to 4 direct reports (buyers)
**Additional Qualifications:**
+ 5 Years of Purchasing Experience in a direct material buying or commodity management role required.
+ Experience managing others in a global capacity.
**QUALIFICATIONS (nice to have):**
+ Ability to select, lead, evaluate, and develop employees.
+ Ability to track and analyze financial results of sourcing strategies.
+ Global manufacturing and supply base knowledge.
+ Able to analyze and interpret market data.
+ Commodity cost driver knowledge. Primarily iron cast and forged components.
