Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned procurement professional to join our global Electric Power Division (EPD) team as a Purchasing Manager at our Griffin, Georgia facility. EPD is dedicated to delivering sustainable and reliable power solutions to our customers. As our business continues to grow rapidly, we are looking for a strategic leader with deep expertise in supply chain design and management. This role is pivotal to the success of our Griffin Operations Facility and our packaging supplier’s ability to meet customer expectations.

In this role you will manage a team of individual contributors responsible for procurement of materials and services needed in the manufacturing process.  This team also plan those materials to be available on time to the manufacturing facilities.

What You Will Do:

Manage supplier selection for in-house managed commodities.

Evaluate supplier qualifications and lead price negotiations.

Oversee a team of purchasing and supply chain professionals, as well as daily procurement operations including:

Requesting quotes

Issuing purchase orders

Approving invoices/contracts

Resolving procurement issues

Managing vendor relationships and supplier quality/delivery

Maintaining accurate purchasing records​

Analyze historical and market data to assess purchasing decisions and recommend improvements.

Implement audit and compliance technologies and participate in regulatory meetings.

Ensure the quality of purchased goods and services; resolve major supplier issues.

Mange the material planning function of our business to ensure our ERP system is managed to plan accurately to our supply base.

What Skills You Will Have:

Purchasing Operations

Knowledge of how to lead complex purchasing programs and advise on procurement challenges.

Ability to evaluate procurement strategies and implement process improvements.

Ability to train others on advanced procurement tools and technologies.

Category Management

Ability to assist in category creation using spend and market analysis.

Ability to set goals, KPIs, and manage category performance.

Ability to identify and address category management challenges.

Supplier Management (in Manufacturing)

Ability to perform routine supplier management tasks and resolve issues.

Ability to use digital tools for supplier transactions and data management

Ability to participate in supplier selection and ensure delivery/quality compliance.

Negotiation

Knowledge of how to apply win-win negotiation strategies.

Ability to use active listening and probing to uncover issues and interests.

Knowledge of how to present and defend positions while remaining open to others’ perspectives.

Audit & Compliance

Ability to understand the mission and structure of audit and compliance functions.

Ability to support major compliance initiatives and summarize key issues.

Effective Communication

Ability to deliver constructive feedback and adapt communication style to audience.

Ability to present ideas clearly in both written and oral formats.

Ability to interpret non-verbal cues and avoid unnecessary technical jargon.

What Will Put You Ahead:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field.

Proven experience in material planning and procurement within a manufacturing environment.

Strong working knowledge of SAP and Power BI for data-driven decision-making and reporting.

Expertise in inventory planning strategies, including analysis, forecasting, and optimization.

Demonstrated success in leading teams, projects, or cross-functional programs.

Additional Information:

This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

Travel up to ~10% is possible

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
