Job Description

Role: Purchasing Coordinator

Job Summary: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for procuring all supplies and materials needed by the facility at competitive prices and terms. This includes maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support production and business needs, conducting market analysis of raw materials, and working closely with vendors, internal departments, and accounts payable to ensure an efficient procurement-to-payment process.

Job Responsibilities 

Analyze market conditions to assess material availability and identify cost-effective procurement strategiesLocate and evaluate vendors for materials, equipment, and suppliesNegotiate and communicate with suppliers to secure favorable termsImplement purchasing and contract management policies and proceduresParticipate in developing specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materialsPrepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, services, and equipmentReview purchase orders and contracts for compliance with company policiesMaintain records of goods ordered and receivedEnsure timely delivery of purchased items according to purchase ordersCollaborate with the Maintenance Coordinator for spare parts and maintenance supportAdminister online purchasing systems and ensure accurate data in inventory control systemsOversee disposal of surplus materialsProvide leadership to the manufacturing clerk to ensure data accuracy in plant operations

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s Degree required; Business Administration or Accounting preferredMinimum 3 years of relevant purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environmentExperience with ERP systems; JD Edwards preferredStrong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skillsAbility to prioritize and work effectively in a team-oriented environment
