Purchasing Clerk
Purchasing Clerk St. George’s University invites applicants for the position of Purchasing Clerk within the Purchasing Department. Special note to applicants: · Review of applicants will be ongoing until a suitable candidate is identified. Job Description Objective The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for direct communications and relationships with all University vendors and internal departments (Customers). This position provides support for all levels of the university’s procurement process for goods and services. Essential Functions · Effective communications with vendors, suppliers and Custom Broker as necessary. · Coordination of Communications between Accounting, receiving and purchasing departments. · Prepare purchase order documents for all University related sourcing activities. · Advises University Departments on purchases. · Receive, Evaluate, and process requisitions in accordance with university policies and procedures. · Handles Department Specific Filing duties. · Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager. Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities · Ability to learn and effectively work independently or as a team. · Capable of maintaining accurate and organized records regarding numerous customer orders. · Willingness to be flexible and take initiative without direct supervision. Work Environment/Physical Demands · This job operates in a professional office environment. · This role requires you to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones and filing cabinets. · This is a largely sedentary role. · The ability to maintain good concentration when dealing with multiple priorities. Hours and Travel + A typical work week is 40 hours Monday to Friday with flexible start, lunch break and end day. + Weekend work will be as is required. · Little to no travel is anticipated for this position. Qualifications · Minimum of a High School Diploma With CXC Math and English · 1 Year work experience in an office environment . · Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of Products. · Knowledge of SAP Concur. · Preferred to have knowledge of the Banner Computer System.
