Summary Job title: Purchasing Assistant Job ID: 202507150006 Department: Bethlehem - APE Location: PA-Bethlehem Description Summary: As a Purchasing Assistant, you will be responsible for performing high-quality and cost-effective procurement activities across multiple suppliers and business facets. The Purchasing Assistant helps with maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring optimal turns, eliminating aged inventory, and keeping up with the market demand for new products. Reports to: PC Manager Minimum Qualifications: + Must be at least 18 years of age + Current, valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record + Authorization to work in the United States (without requiring work authorization sponsorship by CED now or in the future) ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES: + Interact with customers and vendors in a professional manner + Work well independently being detail-oriented, self-motivated, and friendly as well as working well in a team environment + Ability to provide open and transparent communication through phone, email, text and in-person communication + Strong negotiation skills + Must be a self-starter who can handle a heavy volume of work and be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree preferred, but will consider related experience in lieu of degree + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment and various warehouse locations and conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 75 pounds. Supervisory Responsibilities: No Essential Job Functions: + Assist PC inventory on an item-by-item basis by ordering stock merchandise through stock transfers, vendors, and online as needed. + Create a weekly report of low or out of stock items for sales team + + Bring in low or out of stock items through stock transfer or vendor PO’s + Make suggestions to Purchasing Manager on PO’s that are low and need to be placed + Analyze reports regarding stock status, inventory turns, ratios, write-downs, and overstock situations + + Make decisions on improving these areas by selling slow moving products, or placing stock transfers for low products until vendor PO is received + Quarterly review of slow moving product and potential write-down materials + Be the sole point of contact for stock transfer requests from other PC’s + Maintain current local product file, including pricing group codes, min/max, rapid reorder, box/carton/pallet quantity, etc. + Maintain Into Stock Cost Files and Replacement Costs + Work with QA personnel on damaged, defective, incorrect, and non-stock merchandise + Attend vendor meetings to take notes + Assist in all Inventory prep for PC’s + Work in the warehouse as needed + Learn and understand existing and new solar technologies for residential solar CED is an Equal Opportunity Employer - Disability | Veteran Other Compensation: The following additional compensation may be applicable for this position: + Profit Sharing Benefits: Benefits available for this position are: + Insurance - Medical, Dental, Vision Care for full-time positions + Disability Insurance + Life Insurance + 401(k) + Paid Sick Leave + Paid Holidays + Paid Vacation + Health Savings Account (HSA) and matching + Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) + Teledoc + Paid Pregnancy & New Parent Leave
