Job Description

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The Material Control Lead is responsible for working with and providing direction to a mid-sized team of contract employees within the material and production control departments. Key responsibilities include overseeing transportation logistics, inventory management, and performing tasks directly related to support material record balances and resolve discrepancies and payment issues.

This role involves a variety of administrative and technical tasks, requiring decisions made within established practices, standards, and policies. The MCL will operate under general supervision while exercising a high degree of independent judgment. 

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Manages the material flow process through banks, buffers and visual inventory controlsManage buildouts during model year changes and major launchesEnsures correct inventories for assembly materialSupports BPD / Scorecard achievementManages annual physical inventory / plant cycle counts / high precision cycle countsInternal Controls compliance for their functionsAdministers the LLP processSupervises 3rd party Logistics providerTrains and develops peopleEnforces adherence to standardized work, developing standardized work documents as requiredResolves numerous issues dealing with suppliers, supplier contracts or buyer related problemsFollow-up on problem solving initiatives related to stock discrepanciesCoordinates material activities surrounding a plan for every part for MVB and all launch activitiesInterfaces with Central Office allocation on part issues as requiredMaintains ISO standardsImplements, monitors and maintains GMS elements (Short Lead Time SME); supporting SLT implementation activitiesInvestigates supplier claims of unpaid bills; duplicate receipts; non-standard receiving issues;Is responsible for the coordination of Material systems and modulesSupports critical material flow systems such as STMS, PPS and EPSPerforms a daily audit of record adjustments including MR/DR reviewsResponsible for stock / record balance accuracyEnsure GM inventory and capital investment is protectedDevelop and implement cost savings projectsEnsure total cost perspective is utilizedDrive root cause initiatives and countermeasure closure

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

3+ years of Supply Chain experienceExperience working in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of Bill of Materials and StructureKnowledge of manufacturing processes and proceduresAbility to work overtime as needed (daily / weekend to support production requirements)High level analytical ability where problems are complexHigh level interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organizationMGO experience required

5+ years of supply chain experienceExperience working in a plant directly supporting plant floor manufacturing operations (previous experience as a group leader in supply chain)Proficient in MGO A Inventory control and scheduling screensWorking directly with / supporting 3rd Party operationsExperience in managing individual contributorsGMS and BPD experienceKnowledge of quality control procedures
