Job Summary
Assist the Purchasing Manager and Assistant Purchasing Manager with the daily operations
of the Purchasing Department. Participate in the implementation and roll out of Division initiatives. The Purchasing Agent analyzes system data, prepares purchase orders, solicits bid proposals and reviews requisitions for goods and services while helping to improve efficiency through cost reduction, steady pricing and uninterrupted flow of goods and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide a leadership resource to Purchasing team members providing knowledge, experience support and guidance regarding procedures and complianceMake inquiries and evaluate suppliers on the basis of price, quality, and service support and availability.Solicit bids from vendors, subcontractors and consultantsExecute lot starts and verify all final unit costsVerify requests and approve all Extra Purchase OrdersParticipate in price review activities with suppliers to promote understanding of cost driversMeet with new and current vendors alongside the Purchasing Manager and/or the Assistant Purchasing Manager to discuss pricing and changesPre-qualify subcontractorsSetup and monitor budget costs, option costs and sales pricesMaintain and update current budgetsRun detailed comps on revised bids and obtain approval for any price increasesPrepare direct costs analysis and variances for reviewInput original Direct Costs budgetExecute lot starts and final proof all unit costsAdditional Responsibilities
Work with Accounting / Accounts Payable teams to ensure compliance and accurate cost analysisQualifications - ExternalEducation and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience working with JD EdwardsAdvanced analytical and excel experienceSkilled in analyzing large quantities of data to make decisions and act on cost saving opportunitiesStrong negotiation skillsProvide attention to detail, and ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.Ability to work well in a team environmentAbility to perform basic material takeoffsAbility to read and understand architectural and structural plans/detailsD.R.
