Purchasing Agent I
JOB SUMMARY: The Purchasing Agent I is an emerging procurement professional position that is responsible for managing the purchasing process of goods and services within their assigned region(s). A successful candidate in this position will be able to ensure timely delivery of quality products while maintaining cost-effectiveness and compliance with our company policies.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Request and evaluate vendor quotes Establish initial contact with vendors and communicate regularly to understand their capabilities Create and issue purchase orders in a timely manner Negotiates best price, delivery, and quality between vendors Manage shipments to ensure on-time delivery, expedite orders when required and follow up on undelivered goods Follow up and confirm all purchase orders are received by the vendor Communicate with vendors on defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action with supervisor Communicate all changes in equipment provided by the vendors with supervisor Maintain electronic documentation records for all service and materials purchased Comply with all Purchasing and Company policies and procedures, best practices, and government / state regulations Visit suppliers' plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with guidance from the supervisor Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Basic understanding of how the purchasing / supply chain process works within an ERP system Knowledge of the purchasing/supply chain module within GP is a plus, but not required Basic level of experience working with MS Office, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel, Word, and Sharepoint Excellent time management skills Obtain a high level of attention to detail Ability to organize and complete a high volume of administrative tasks accurately and efficiently Ability to maintain confidentiality of information The ability to effectively work alongside more experienced colleagues within the company and the Supply Chain Manager by actively contributing ideas, sharing information, and collaborating to achieve the best possible outcomes in terms of productivity, innovation, problem-solving, and overall positive results.
