Purchasing Agent / Buyer

The Purchasing Agent/Buyer plays a key role in managing procurement operations across purchase orders, direct ship orders, and warehouse transfers. This role involves working within the Chempax system, collaborating with suppliers and logistics partners, and ensuring accurate and timely order execution. Success in this position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities across a fast-paced supply chain environment.
Location and Compensation
On-site in Monroeville, PA / $53,000-$57,000 per year
Core Responsibilities
+ Execute and manage purchase orders, direct ship orders, and warehouse transfers in Chempax.
+ Place orders with suppliers and maintain comprehensive records of transactions.
+ Build and sustain positive relationships with suppliers to support procurement success.
+ Distribute raw material cost updates to relevant internal stakeholders promptly.
+ Communicate effectively with suppliers, operations, sales, customer service, and logistics teams.
+ Monitor and report on pricing changes, lead times, and supply chain shifts.
+ Analyze supplier pricing to ensure cost-to-sell accuracy and profitability.
+ Track inventory levels at partner warehouses and flag issues proactively.
+ Coordinate shipments and logistics with carriers and freight forwarders.
+ Perform supplier and partner audits to ensure compliance and reliability.
+ Research and recommend product alternatives for APPC and customer needs.
+ Take on additional responsibilities as required to support purchasing and operations.
Qualifications
+ Associate's degree in Business or equivalent; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
+ Minimum of 2 years of professional purchasing experience.
+ Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
+ High attention to detail and organizational skillset.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
+ Proficient in data entry and computer operation.
Key Skills & Competencies
+ Comfortable working with various enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Chempax, partner platforms).
+ Skilled in information management, report generation, and data analysis.
+ Adaptability in dynamic environments and proactive problem-solving.
+ Ability to interpret and act on supplier and customer communications across multiple channels.
