This is a (up to) 14 months contract for a maternity leave. 

This role requires a presence at the office of (minimum) 3 days per week.

The Purchasing & Accounts Payable Specialist role’s primarily for providing the local expertise and support for accounts payable and some purchasing activities. The Purchasing and Accounts payable specialist is expected to work closely with the BPO, FSS, Local Indirect spend Requestors (SRM users) and Supervisor-Accounting services to work through the financial close process to produce financial statements in accordance with AbbVie’s policies and procedures, US and CDN GAAP.

Key responsibilities

Purchasing and Accounts payable.Support for a Large Business Unit with high volumes.Maintain and administer vendor master file.Request new local vendor set up.Complete 3rd party process.Processing approx. 10,000 non PO invoices (ACR), including Image invoices and sales tax coding.Process Image invoices for PO invoices (when received at the Affiliate, forward and track to Iron Mountain).Requisition and approve indirect spend for department where no admin or coordinator is in place (approx. 500 requisitions/year).Process receipts for department where no admin or coordinator is in place.Request New Shopping Cart items. Local Key User (LKU) 20% of responsibilities, including training SRM users and Go To Subject Matter Expert within the Affiliate.Recommend Process improvements and works with Foundation PTP Team.Liaison with BPO Purchasing Agent, BPO AP and Purchasing PSM COE.
Qualifications

Education / Experience required

Bachelor’s degree in accounting (a plus).2-3 years of experience in Accounts payable.Experiences in a purchasing function (a plus).Experience with SAP.Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Very good interpersonal and communication skills.Great Initiative and self-motivating.

Essential skills and abilities

Experience with SAP and other accounting systems preferred.Microsoft Office - intermediate level in excelIntermediate Accounting
