Purchase & Sales Specialist
Description We are looking for a knowledgeable Purchase & Sales Specialist to join our team in Plymouth, Michigan. This Contract-to-Permanent position is ideal for someone with a strong background in procurement, particularly in the construction and materials industry. The role involves managing purchasing activities, vendor relationships, and inventory coordination while ensuring cost efficiency and compliance. Responsibilities: • Coordinate the procurement of construction materials, including pipes, valves, and fittings, to align with project specifications and timelines. • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, evaluating their reliability, pricing, and quality. • Collaborate with internal teams such as project managers and engineers to address procurement needs and delivery requirements. • Create and manage purchase orders while ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations. • Negotiate vendor contracts to achieve cost savings and maintain budgetary control. • Monitor inventory levels and synchronize deliveries with project schedules to prevent delays. • Resolve issues related to late deliveries, defective materials, or discrepancies in inventory. • Research and onboard new suppliers to diversify and strengthen the supply chain. • Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency. Requirements • A minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing within the construction or building materials industry. • Expertise in sourcing and managing pipes, valves, and fittings. • Proven ability to manage relationships with a large number of vendors, including contract negotiations. • Strong customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. • Familiarity with procurement software and tools, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills to handle complex procurement processes. • Analytical capabilities to forecast needs, manage costs, and resolve procurement challenges. • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
