Our client in the shipping industry, located in Bloomfield, Connecticut, is looking for a Purchase and Sales Specialist to join their growing team. Position Overview As a Purchase and Sales Specialist, you will play a key role in the coordination of procurement and sales activities for the client’s shipping operations. You will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, optimizing supply chain processes, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services while also overseeing sales transactions to support the business's operational goals. Key Responsibilities + Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms for shipping-related goods and services. + Manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in processing. + Review inventory levels and forecast requirements to avoid shortages and minimize costs. + Maintain relationships with existing customers while also identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the shipping industry. + Prepare and process sales contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. + Analyze market trends to provide recommendations on pricing strategies for both purchasing and sales activities. + Work closely with the logistics and operations teams to ensure seamless supply chain execution. + Address discrepancies or issues related to orders, shipments, or customer transactions in a timely and professional manner. + Maintain accurate records and prepare regular reports on purchasing and sales activities. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred). + 3+ years of experience in purchasing, sales, or supply chain roles, ideally within the shipping or logistics industry. + Strong negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery considerations. + Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients. + Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving. + Knowledge of shipping regulations and international trade (a plus).
