Description We are looking for an experienced Public Staff Tax Accountant to join our team in Canfield, Ohio. In this long-term contract role, you will play a crucial part in preparing and reviewing tax returns, advising clients on tax strategies, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic CPA firm dedicated to delivering exceptional client service.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review accurate tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit entities.
• Conduct in-depth tax research to stay compliant with the latest regulations and legislative changes.
• Develop and implement tax-saving strategies tailored to client needs.
• Analyze financial documents, including income statements and expenditure records, to ensure accuracy in reporting.
• Represent clients during audits and liaise with federal or state agencies when required.
• Provide year-round tax planning and advisory services to clients.
• Collaborate with audit and advisory teams to deliver comprehensive solutions for client engagements.
• Uphold client confidentiality and manage sensitive financial information with the utmost integrity.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding tax-related matters, deadlines, and required documentation. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA certification preferred or in progress.
• At least 1–3 years of experience in public accounting or tax preparation.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with tax preparation tools such as UltraTax, Lacerte, or ProSystem fx, along with advanced Excel skills.
• Exceptional analytical abilities and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective client interactions.
• Familiarity with accounting software systems, including CaseWare and CCH IntelliConnect.
• Commitment to ongoing development and learning.
