Public Safety Officer Temporary Applicant Pool
Position Summary

Located 45 minutes from the Nation’s Capital, nestled in a history-rich community of southern Maryland, The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) has been twice named in the top 150 community colleges by the Aspen Institute with academic programs in over 100 disciplines. CSM is among America’s top 100 producers of Minority associate degrees in twenty categories, according to Diverse Issues in Higher Education.  

This is an applicant pool for future temporary job employment as a temporary Public Safety Officer with the College of Southern Maryland on the Hughesville Campus. 

The applicant pool will be accessed by the hiring manager when there becomes a need.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

As a temporary Public Safety Officer, duties include but are not limited to patrol services, including patrolling buildings, grounds, and parking areas, observation of irregular activities, and ensuring the completion of required reports for accidents, injuries and incidents observed by or reported to the officer.  Officers are expected to conduct day-to-day work activities with little to no direct supervision.  

Primary work hours will be Saturday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm, however flexibility is required. This position may also require additional hours and days as needed, as well as travel to other campuses and off-site locations.  This position requires some moderate activity.

Minimum Education and Training

High School Diploma required2-3 years security experience preferred.Must possess a valid driver's license and meet all eligibility requirements to drive a college vehicle and be insured under the college's automobile insuranceMust be able to lift and carry at least 50 poundsMust be capable of responding to and traveling to any college facility for unexpected events or emergencies that may occur at any time of the workday.
