Public Policy Manager, Turkey
Uber
**About the Role**
Our public policy team is responsible for working with policymakers, regulators, and external organisations to advocate for Uber as a platform, the drivers and couriers who find work on our app, and the consumers who rely on us. That's partly about building lasting relationships with key stakeholders in the places we operate across Turkey by articulating the benefits of Uber as a business. It is also about having a deep understanding of the political environment and developing campaigns to reach a range of audiences.
Policy at Uber is business-critical and has a real impact across our markets as we work to harness our technology responsibly and sustainably to Go anywhere and Get anything. It is for team-players who are action-oriented, excellent at communicating, and committed to doing the right thing.
We are looking for someone to join Uber’s Public Policy team, based in Istanbul and reporting to the Director of Public Policy, Iberia & Turkey.
**What You'll Do**
1. Within this role, you will develop and implement Public Policy and Government Affairs strategies. You will act as a transparent and constructive partner to establish lasting relationships with policy-makers—including national and local or regional governments, municipalities, third parties, and academics on a range of policy issues of interest to all the company’s businesses, including Mobility and Delivery services.
2. Furthermore, you will partner with global and regional teams throughout the business including Operations, Communications, Legal and Marketing - providing strategic advice across a range of core areas, building and implementing partner engagement strategies, and campaigns that promote and improve the overall reputation of Uber as a platform.
**What You'll Need**
1. _Experience_: Ideally, you would have 8+ years of experience working with institutions, government officials, and parliament; of understanding and handling policy issues—with a proven ability to evolve in a complex environment. Private sector experience, especially in a multinational context, is a plus.
2. _Skills_: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Turkish with a track record of engaging on policy concepts with diverse partners is essential.
3. _A self-starter_: All of us at Uber seek to work with people who enjoy solving problems and building things from the bottom up. Projects can change fast and you need to be highly adaptable, as well as calm under pressure.
4. _An exceptional advocate_: We're looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple, clear points. You'll need to write well and be comfortable speaking to a range of senior stakeholders - about our products, people and the ways we're working to improve life for customers, earners, partners and cities.
5. _A strong campaigner and negotiator_: You'll need passion and dedication to put together proactive campaigns with a bias for action in everything you do—and a willingness to engage in debates that can become heated. An ideal candidate will know how to navigate complex partnerships in both the private and public sector spheres, creating outcomes that are respectful of everyone's needs.
6. _A team-player:_ Success at Uber depends on your capacity to coordinate with different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals. It’s why we’re seeking well-organized people that enjoy working with others to get stuff done—and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally and the ability to build trusting and long-lasting relationships.
We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.
