JOB SUMMARY

The Patients' Rights Advocate monitors facilities, services and programs for compliance with patients’ rights statutes and regulations governing mental health treatment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.Attend Probable Cause Hearings on behalf of patients in residential facilities throughout the county.Directly contact patients and/or family members to educate prior to hearings and advocate throughout hearing processes.Actively participate in Independent Clinical Review of minor patients in inpatient facilities.Participate in Grievance Resolution, special investigations, and incident reporting.Prepare patient rights' material for dissemination to residential, inpatient, correctional, and outpatient facilities throughout the county.Monitor facilities for the presence of mandated state-published handouts and posters regarding Title 9 inpatients' rights to contact Advocates and the California Office of Patients' Rights.Review and monitor records for Denial of Rights, Temporary Conservatorship/Conservatorship and Seclusion/Restraint and Involuntary Detention for compliance with statutory and regulatory patients' rights provisions.Report on facility monitoring activities to program management and Data Analyst for outcome tracking and follow up.Maintain confidentiality of client's care in alignment with HIP AA requirements.Participate in scheduled program meetings and attend relevant trainings.Other relevant duties as assigned.

     

QUALIFICATIONS

•    Bachelor’s degree in human services field preferred. 

•    Knowledge of Welfare and Institution Codes preferred.

•    Valid CA driver's license and current auto insurance per contract requirements required.

•    Cultural Competency understanding required.

•    Bilingual preferred.
