About the Role:
As a Public Area Associate, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of all hotel public spaces, ensuring guests enjoy a welcoming and comfortable environment. As part of the pre-opening team, you will assist in preparing and setting up the hotel to Hyatt standards before the hotel opening.
Job Responsibilities:
- Clean, dust, mop, vacuum, and sanitize all public spaces including lobbies, hallways,
elevators, washrooms, pool, fitness center, and other assigned areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of glass, mirrors, doors, and fixtures in public areas.
- Replenish supplies in public washrooms and service areas as needed.
- Ensure pool and fitness center is fully stocked with towels, and the shower area
supplies are replenished
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
- Respond to guest requests courteously and efficiently, ensuring prompt resolution.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and checklists to maintain consistency.
- Assist with special cleaning projects and deep cleaning tasks as required.
- Ensure housekeeping carts and storage areas are clean, stocked, and organized.
- Uphold Hyatt brand standards for cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Previous cleaning or janitorial experience in a hotel or commercial environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety standards.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be physically able to stand for extended periods, bend, lift up to 30 lbs, and
perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
Health & Safety:
- Follow Hyatt’s Health & Safety Program and wear protective equipment as required.
- Report hazards, unsafe practices, and maintenance issues immediately.
- Ensure safe handling of cleaning chemicals in accordance with training and WHMIS
standards.
- Promote the “Clean as You Go” policy across all public areas.
