The Maintenance Custodian maintains and cares for Bread Loaf Campus grounds and facilities. They maintain and clean, picks up and delivers materials, furniture and equipment to campus buildings from April - November at Bread Loaf Campus.
This is a part-time, hourly, non-benefit eligible position. The hourly range for this position is $19.92-$24.40 per hour.
Core Responsibilities:
+ General Cleaning & Disinfecting: Clean and disinfect all interior building areas including restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common spaces; wipe surfaces such as tables, countertops, desks, door handles, phones, and office tools.
+ Floor & Surface Care: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors, carpets, rugs, walls, mirrors, and windows; operate floor scrubbers and related equipment.
+ Restroom Maintenance: Clean and maintain restrooms including toilets, sinks, showers, and mirrors; restock supplies as needed.
+ Trash & Supply Management: Empty trash and recycling bins; restock and maintain supply rooms; monitor and maintain cleaning inventory.
+ Groundskeeping: Maintain outdoor areas including grass cutting, bush trimming, trash pickup, walkway care, and patio upkeep; remove debris and snow from sidewalks.
+ Repairs & Equipment Maintenance: Perform minor repairs on equipment, machinery, and tools; notify supervisors of unsafe conditions.
+ Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; follow safety guidelines and report hazards.
+ Schedule & Miscellaneous Duties: Work includes evening, night, and/or weekend shifts as scheduled; perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
+ Must have knowledge of proper use of equipment and the ability and willingness to learn to maintain all equipment used.
+ Organizational skills required.
+ Must have a valid driver's license, have ability to get a College license and a good driving record.
+ Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and be able to respond to a high volume of requests.
+ General building maintenance, housekeeping, lawn mowing, trailer use and snow removal is preferred.
+ Good interpersonal skills and must be a self starter. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in written communications.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
+ Must be able to do the following tasks occasionally: lift up to 100 lbs.; push up to 110 lbs.; pull up to 190 lbs.; carry up to 100 lbs.; crouch/kneel, twist/turn, reach and balance; use finger to operate controls on power tools or truck;
+ Must be able to do the following tasks on rare occasions: crawl, sit and withstand vibration of hand drills on rare occasions
+ Must be able to do the following tasks frequently: lift 40-80 lbs.; push and pull up to 50 lbs.; carry 40 -80 lbs.; bend, squat and climb stairs.
+ Must be able to do the following tasks constantly: walking, standing, material handling (such as grip force of 80 lbs. with one hand to pull heavy loads on a dolly).
