Position Summary
The Van Driver is a vital member of the Operations team, responsible for transporting supplies, equipment, and materials to New York Edge sites and events across New York City and Long Island. This role ensures that programs and major events are equipped to run smoothly and efficiently by delivering key items on time, maintaining accurate inventory records, and coordinating with staff to support logistical needs.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Drive the New York Edge van to assigned sites and delivery points throughout NYC and Long Island.
+ Load supplies, ensuring care and proper handling.
Wear a New York Edge shirt and display a New York Edge ID badge during all shifts.
+ Coordinate with school staff on parking and delivery procedures for each location .
Use the van only for New York Edge business purposes—personal use is strictly prohibited.
Inventory & Documentation
+ Review inventory against packing lists prior to departure.
+ Secure signed delivery confirmations at each site.
+ Submit all signed inventory lists to the Site and Headquarters.
+ Maintain accurate logs of items delivered, including dates, times, and locations.
Vehicle Maintenance & Recordkeeping
+ Keep the van clean and well-organized at all times.
+ Track and record gas usage, mileage, and routine maintenance.
+ Maintain and submit all receipts for gas, parking, car washes, and cleanings to your supervisor monthly; the supervisor will submit to Finance at month-end.
+ Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
Event Support
+ Coordinate logistics for large-scale events such as sports tournaments, arts showcases, and other major initiatives.
+ Assist staff with loading and unloading event equipment and supplies at venues.
+ Ensure all equipment is returned to headquarters or storage following events.
Collaboration & Communication
+ Work proactively with site and program staff to ensure accurate, timely deliveries.
+ Build positive relationships with team members to support program success.
+ Resolve issues quickly and communicate effectively to ensure smooth logistics.
Safety & Conduct
+ Follow all traffic laws and New York Edge driving safety policies.
+ No texting, emailing, or distractions while operating the van.
+ Use proper lifting techniques and adhere to all safety protocols.
+ Promptly informing the company of any traffic tickets issued against the company vehicle during work hours .
+ Providing accurate time records of the company vehicle’s coming and goings .
+ Reporting any accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage to management.
Required Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Maintain a valid NYS driver’s license and clean driving record at all times.
+ Minimum 4 years of professional driving experience preferred
+ Familiarity with NYC and Long Island geography strongly preferred
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and manage physical aspects of the role safely
+ Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
+ Basic experience with delivery tracking or inventory a plus
+ Must be at least 21 years old and driven for 3-5years.

Additional Duties
+ When not making deliveries, assist at New York Edge headquarters with conducting inventory.
+ Ensure all items returned to headquarters are properly stored in designated storage areas and not left in the garage.
+ May be required to work occasional evenings and weekends based on program and event needs.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
