SickKids Psychology is currently recruiting for a Psychometrist/Clinical Research Coordinator who, under the direction and supervision of a registered Neuropsychologist/Health Clinician Scientist, will carry out the administration, scoring, and data management of neuropsychological assessment measures for children and adolescents (ages 4-18) with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1).Additionally, this role involves the coordination of various research projects. The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in both clinical and research aspects of the position. Clinical research is a critical part of this program, with clinical trials and/or observational studies integrated into the care provided. Specifically, the Psychometrist should have specialized knowledge of neuropsychological test administration and experience working with patients with complex neurological conditions. The psychometrist should also have experience with various research coordination tasks. This includes coordinating patient recruitment and data collection, preparing consents and paperwork required by the Research Ethics Board (REB), working on Health Canada Regulated Studies if needed, and overall study administration. The Psychometrist will primarily work with school-age children and adolescents presenting with NF1 who are followed through the SickKids Hospital NF1 clinic. Duties will align with the NF1 Neuropsychology Clinic mission of improving outcomes in children with neurogenetic disorders through comprehensive scientific evaluation, timely diagnosis, and improved coordination of interventions across the appropriate specialty services. **Here's What You'll Get to Do** **Clinical Tasks** + Work within a fast-paced environment; efficiently manage, triage, and assess a varied caseload under specific required timelines within a child and family centred approach to care. + Manage clinical services by maintaining accurate wait lists, contacting families to make clinical appointments, gathering initial referral data and history. + Under the direction of the neuropsychologist, carrying out comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to understand a child's cognitive, behavioural, and social-emotional functioning while considering his/her/their neurodevelopmental and medical/neurological histories. + Administer and score developmental, cognitive, and neuropsychological assessment measures. + Observe and reporting on relevant patient behaviour during test sessions and adapting interactions as necessary to work successfully with patients. + Assist in the education/training of clinical trainees with neuropsychological testing and scoring. + Keep up to date with new tests or versions of tests as they become available. + Manage psychological and clinical databases and ensuring complete and accurate records are kept for future reference, program evaluation, and quality assurance. + Support departmental education and contribute to departmental function by serving on committees, mentoring new employees, attending departmental meetings. + Ensure that hospital administrative policy and privacy requirements are adhered to. **Research Tasks** + Assist in the development of new research proposals and preparation of grant applications; contributing to preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts. + Develop informed consent documents based on regulations, REB consent templates and institutional requirements. Submit to REB and coordinate revisions. Assist with annual approval process and amend protocols and consents as required. + Participate in audits, site visits, and monitoring by SickKids and other regulatory bodies. + Conduct literature reviews and keep current with study literature. + Assist with database design. Ensure the quality of the database and supervise database cleaning. + Perform, assist, or supervise data entry and analysis. + Assist with preliminary data analysis and visualization. + Develop and monitor timelines for studies. + Provide information and documentation for potential protocol patients (consents, patient eligibility items, required pre-study testing and roadmaps). + Confirm eligibility and registration of patients. + Perform patient interviews and assessments as required by study protocols. + Organize materials to facilitate protocol adherence, including study binders and checklists of eligibility. + Prepare/submit purchase requisitions and invoices. + Maintain budget records. + Keep research data secure per research protocols. + Assisting in training and supervision of research assistants and volunteers. ' **Here's What You'll Need** + Master's degree in psychology (bachelor's degree in psychology with relevant clinical and research experience _may_ be considered). + Previous neuropsychological testing and assessment experience with children/adolescents with wide ranging presentations. The candidate must be comfortable working with neurodiverse children and families managing complex medical conditions and experiences. + Previous experience in a lab or research setting is preferred. + Previous experience developing and submitting REB applications, including addressing REB queries on initial study applications and amendments through to approval. + Previous experience working on Health Canada Regulated studies is considered an asset. + Superior critical thinking skills + High attention to detail and superior time-management and organization skills. + Ability to use observational skills to identify issues beyond test scores. + Solid experience with database (e.g., Excel, REDCap), statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, etc.), reference management (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote), and proficiency in the use of electronic platforms such as Microsoft Office, hospital documentation systems (EPIC), and other relevant technology (e.g., neuroimaging, eye-tracking) is a strong asset. + Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communications. + Exercising sound judgement, diplomacy, and tact, in interacting with a diverse population.' + Knowledge and experience with crisis prevention and intervention models. + Demonstrated ability to problem solve, work independently and collaboratively with members of a large interdisciplinary healthcare team. + Demonstrated experience and knowledge in culturally competent practice, and extensive understanding of the importance of health equity, diversity, and inclusion in the delivery of healthcare services. + Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives. + Excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills. + Social sensitivity, diplomacy, and relationship-building / management. + Knowledge of child and adolescent psychosocial development and psychopathology; ability to manage challenging behaviour and motivate children and adolescents. + Ability to multi-task, be flexible and adaptable to changing program demands. + Proficiency in French and experience administering French neuropsychological assessment measures is an asset. **Employment Type** + 1.0 FTE, 37.5 hrs/week, Permanent **Our Commitment to Diversity** SickKids is committed to championing equity, diversity and inclusion in all that we do, fostering an intentionally inclusive and culturally safe environment that reflects the diversity of the patients, families and communities we serve.
