PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM MANAGER
Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities Incumbent serves as the Psychology Training Program Manager (PTPM) for Veteran Health Indiana (VHI). The Psychology Training Program is responsible for psychology learners across the continuum of psychology graduate education including pre-doctoral practicum students, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows. Annually, the Psychology Training Program educates 4 paid, pre-doctoral interns and approximately 30 practicum students throughout VHI (e.g. Palliative Care, Primary Care Mental Health Integration, Neuropsychology, Serious Mental Illness, and Community Based Outpatient Clinics). The Psychology Training Program consists of all psychology trainees, all Psychologists supervising trainees throughout VHI, the Senior Psychology Program Manager, and the Psychology Training Program Manager. The incumbent provides leadership, coordination, oversight, consultation, program development, collaboration, and integration to ensure the smooth and effective provision of all Psychology training throughout VHI. The incumbent has direct programmatic responsibility for the Psychology Training Program in all locations and direct supervisory authority for 4.0 yearly NTE trainees who are clinically trained by psychologist training supervisors throughout VHI. Coordination includes day-to-day operations at all 8 VHI locations, administration, staffing, program mission, program development, accreditation readiness, personnel management, and ensuring that all necessary accreditations are maintained with the American Psychological Association and the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Academic Affiliations. The incumbent will also be expected to maintain, extend, and/or develop positive collaborations with numerous educational institutions which provide VHI with psychology trainees for practicum and intern positions and doctoral dissertation research. The PTPM coordinates psychology training with a large number of diverse teams throughout the VHI, including working closely with all areas in which trainees are placed. Thus, the PTPM has oversight of 8 VA locations which range from urban to rural sites and serve nearly 80,000 Veterans. The incumbent ensures training is coordinated for psychology trainees; trainees have clear procedures, protections, and processes across the continuum of training levels; and that psychology training programs at all levels attain and maintain all accreditations. Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Qualifications Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Psychologists must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j. Education: Must have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed. Licensure: Candidates must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
