Serving a diversity of patients and families, SickKids' psychologists are members of the Brain and Mental Health Program and are deployed across specialty divisions of the hospital providing a broad range of important clinical consultation, assessment, diagnostic and treatment activities to ensure caregivers, families and patients receive wholistic, evidence-informed on-site services and transition planning. Providing services in one of the most diverse cities in the country, SickKids' psychologists are committed to enhancing health equity, respectful service and inclusion of all populations served by the hospital. In 2020 SickKids launched its first enterprise-wide Mental Health Strategy https://2025.sickkids.ca/mental-health/ that focuses on improving evidence-informed care across the care continuum inclusive of inpatient and outpatient specialized mental health services. A key priority of the strategy is building services for children and youth with complex physical and mental health conditions, a specialized area where SickKids is uniquely positioned to support families and develop best practices in the field. SickKids Mental Health is growing its capacity to assess and treat patients with primary mental health disorders including those diagnosed with mood, complex anxiety, behaviour and adjustment disorders. Additionally, SickKids is investing in the integration of treatment for concurrent physical and mental health disorders and will establish new services focused on these complex populations and their families. This posting represents the hiring of a Health/Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry. **Here's What You'll Get To Do:** + Provide psychological consultation, assessment, formulation, diagnosis and treatment to children and adolescents with a broad range of concurrent physical and mental health disorders; clinical work will be distributed across inpatient and outpatient activity + Apply evidence-informed treatment approaches to improve child and family mental health outcomes and functioning + Work collaboratively with existing mental health and medical colleagues to ensure integrated and complementary service delivery for concurrent physical and mental health issues + Provide clinical teaching and supervision to PhD-level Psychology trainees, Psychiatry Residents & Fellows, and other health professional colleagues + Participate in departmental initiatives and program-specific committees + Practice from an integrated model that considers the implications of medical, physical, mental health, family cultural contexts and issues of social complexity + Demonstrate capacity to manage highly charged situations inclusive of the prevention and management of behavioural escalations and responding to Code White situations + Collaborate with a large and diverse inter-professional health care team + Assume responsibility for all aspects of practice including accountabilities for standards of practice, productivity, and workload related data necessary for hospital reporting + Delivery of services in-person as well as virtual **Here's What You'll Need:** + Completion of a CPA/APA recognized Ph.D. degree program and accredited internship in either Health and/or Clinical Psychology is required with a pediatric/developmental focus + Minimum five (5) years related experience in paediatric clinical-health psychology setting + Excellent assessment, diagnostic, formulation and treatment skills for patients dealing with the interaction of complex medical and mental health challenges + Registered and in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario for autonomous practice + Experience in the delivery of evidence-informed therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused (EFT), and Motivational (MI/MET) therapies an asset + Demonstrated skills in patient and family engagement, customizing treatment to the needs of patients and families inclusive of trauma informed, culturally competent care and supporting families in all phases of treatment including preparing for transition and discharge + Knowledge and experience with crisis prevention and intervention models + Experience with measurement-based care and program evaluation is a strong asset + Experience providing clinical supervision for PhD-level psychology trainees + Knowledge of research methodology, data collection and analysis an asset + Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex, highly accountable inter-professional environment where the needs of patients and families are at the center of program design, decision making, and continuous quality improvement + Excellent interpersonal, clinical written skills for the purposes of documentation and oral communication, organizational and time management skills + Demonstrated experience and knowledge in culturally competent practice, and extensive understanding of the importance of health equity, diversity, and inclusion in the delivery of healthcare services + Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills + Commitment and comfort to working in a culture dedicated to quality improvement, evidence-based practice, clinician accountability and measurement-based care. + Capacity to collaborate flexibly and effectively as a member of the inter-professional health care team and to take initiative and leadership when appropriate + Experience working in a health science hospital environment is a strong asset + To ensure the needs of patients and families are prioritized, flexible hours are required; while working from home may be possible, the job is primarily on-site at hospital + Demonstrate commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion commitments **Here's What You'll Love** + This position is eligible for employee benefits coverage including but not limited to; health, dental and life insurance.
