**Position Description**
The Hospital for Sick Children serves a diverse population of patients and families by offering holistic comprehensive services across a wide range of clinical specialties. Empowering children and families lives through excellence, innovation, understanding, and hope, the SickKids Department of Psychology is a respected leader in Precision Child Health. Integrating clinical care, research and education, through an equity-focused and inclusive lens, SickKids Psychology supports the generation of new knowledge and evidence, educates the next generation of specialized Psychologists, and effectively helps address the complex developmental, medical, and psychosocial needs of children and youth being treated for primary medical and psychiatric conditions at SickKids.
The Department of Psychology at the Hospital for Sick Children is looking for a neuropsychologist who will assess, diagnose, and monitor cognitive, behavioural, and socio-emotional functioning of children with complex medical diagnoses. This position will support the newly developed General Neuropsychology Consultation Clinic, located within the Department of Psychology. Responsibilities associated with this role will align with the General Neuropsychology Consultation Clinic's mission to increase access to neuropsychological care for historically underserved clinical populations while improving outcomes of children with complex medical conditions. The neuropsychologist will work primarily with school-age children and adolescents (4-18 years old) and their families with a variety of conditions that affect brain and child development, including but not limited to, neurological and neurogenetic conditions (e.g., encephalitis, tuberous sclerosis, epilepsy, etc. ), infectious diseases (e.g., congenital cytomegalovirus), auto-immune and neuroinflammatory diseases (e.g., lupus), craniofacial conditions (e.g., cleft lip/palate, craniosynostosis), and other congenital conditions.
**Here's What You'll Get To Do**
+ Work within a fast-paced environment; efficiently manage, triage, and assess a varied caseload under specific required timelines with a child and family centred approach
+ Design and carry out consultations, screening, targeted, and comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, following a tiered/stepped model of care, in order to relate current cognitive, behavioural, and social-emotional functioning to a child's neurodevelopmental and medical/neurological histories
+ Excel in communicating and documenting assessment results and recommendations within a diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity lens through a patient and family centered approach to care.
+ Work collaboratively and professionally to support patient care as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team.Actively engage and consult with the interdisciplinary team to discuss and explore Initiative programs and improvements for the psychology department and neurosurgery clinic.
+ Mentor practicum students, residents, and post-doctoral fellows.
+ Integrate research and clinical practice to ensure ethical, evidence-informed patient care.
+ Work within the Hybrid model of care (Virtual/Onsite).
+ Supervise clinical and research trainees.
**Here's What You'll Need**
+ A Ph.D. in Clinical or Neuropsychology from a CPA or APA accredited program or equivalent.
+ Registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario, with competency in Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychology.
+ Post-doctoral training in Neuropsychology. Preference will be given to candidates who are Board Certified or Board eligible through the American Board of Professional Psychology ABPP-CN.
+ Strong proficiency in paediatric neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis of children and adolescents age 4-18.Superior judgement, tact, and diplomacy in interacting with a diverse population.
+ Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
+ Excellent analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills.
+ Proven ability to prioritize patient care needs in an efficient and organized manner.
+ Outstanding ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
+ Demonstrated experience and knowledge in culturally competent practice, and extensive understanding of the importance of health equity, diversity, and inclusion in the delivery of healthcare services.
+ Exhibited resilience in a range of complex and demanding situations.
+ Ethos of evidence-based care and practice.
+ Competency in using virtual technology for teleconference sessions/virtual care.
+ Proficiency in languages other than English is an asset.
+ Demonstrates commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
