NaphCare is hiring a Part Time (8 hours/week) Psychiatrist to join our team of medical professionals in the Mendocino County Jail located in Ukiah, CA.
Payrate ranges from $261.25 - $275.00/hour
As a Correctional Psychiatrist, you will oversee clinical responsibility for the mental health programs within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex mental health needs.
ResponsibilitiesThe Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnosing mental health conditions to facility residents that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Additional responsibilities may include and not be limited to:
Providing medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans to address mental health needsOversee the completion of mental health screenings and evaluations performed by othersResponding to acute mental health crises within the facilitySupporting the rehabilitation of patients and facilitating their successful transition back into the communityCoordinate, lead and participate in educational training activities related to mental health careEnsuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standardsCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensuring staff are responsive to patients’ needs QualificationsEducation / Licenses / Certifications
Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in STATEA current DEA registration in StateHave a valid CPR cardBe certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills.
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disordersStrong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals, correctional staff and judgesAbility to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plansKnowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standardsAble to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationDisplay integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirementsMust pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
