**Position Title:** Psychiatrist **Position Summary** The psychiatrist provides evaluation and management services to youth and adults enrolled in behavioral health programming. The psychiatrist is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals referred due to behavioral health needs. Furthermore, the psychiatrist prescribes medication as needed and consults with the treatment team to ensure coordinated care. **RESPONSIBILITIES** + Evaluate persons served through interview and physical examination to determine the nature and extent of the individual’s emotional and behavioral needs and mental state using discussion, observation, and analysis. + Review persons served medical history and collect additional information as needed to inform treatment. + Diagnosis behavioral and substance use disorders and determine if psychotropic intervention is warranted. + Prescribe, and monitor psychotropic medications based on a comprehensive evaluation of symptomology and adjust treatment plans as needed. + Analyze medical tests and address effect on treatment progress. + Provide consultation and intervention via phone, telehealth, or in person when individuals served experience a behavioral health crisis. + Coordinate with healthcare providers when acute hospitalization is required. + Collaborate with other internal and external healthcare and allied professionals to provide comprehensive care. + Document all service provision within 48 hours and maintain accurate persons served records within the electronic health record (EHR). + Utilize electronic prescribing within the EHR to strengthen coordination of care and streamline service delivery. + Provide consultation to multidisciplinary teams to support effective treatment planning and identify clinical interventions. + Remain abreast of current research related to psychiatric conditions and treatment interventions that enhance the outcomes of persons served. + Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** + Completed a four-year residency in psychiatry with an earned MD or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. + State license to practice medicine in assigned practice jurisdiction. + Active and unencumbered DEA registration. + Fully credentialed with Medicaid and commercial insurance payers. + In-depth knowledge of psychotherapeutic modalities and psychopharmacology with a specific competency in evaluating and treating youth with trauma histories. + Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms and conditions to a non-medical audience. + Strong observation skills to accurately evaluate patients’ presentations and identify symptomology. + An effective practice demeanor with the ability to remain calm, empathetic, and patient while interacting with youth and adults presenting with various degrees of behavioral health needs. + Competency in the use of electronic health records and electronic prescribing. + Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. **Driving and Vehicle Requirements** + Valid driver’s license + Reliable personal transportation + Good driving record + Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability as required by agency.
