Psychiatric Associate - Emergency Department
**Job Overview** **Job Summary** The Psychiatric Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse so that goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned. This role is approved for 60 hours, every two weeks on the day shift, working **12-hour shifts** and every **third weekend** with a variable schedule. The schedule is 7pm-7:30am. PTO, and 403B with potential for employer contribution match; check out the benefit link here: https://www.fairview.org/Careers/Benefits/LocalSEIU **Responsibilities** + Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation. + Conducts room, belonging and unit searches. + Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained. + Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration. + Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan: + Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions. + Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan. + Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy. + Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans: + Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team. + Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, thorough, and professional manner. + Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures. **Organization Expectations:** + Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. + Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. + Communicates in a respective manner. + Ensures a safe, secure environment. + Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs. + Modifies clinical interventions based on population served. + Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver. + Fulfills all organizational requirements. + Completes all required learning relevant to the role. + Complies with and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures and standards. + Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking. + Performs other duties as assigned. **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree + Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross or MTN) **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Human Services Field + Experience working with behavioral patients **Benefit Overview** Fairview offers a generous benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, PTO/vacation and Safe and Sick Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement and more!
