What will it be like to work on the Model e team?
As the Prototype Studio Painter, you will be responsible for applying high-quality paint finishes to a variety of prototype parts and models. You will work closely with designers, engineers, and model makers to achieve the desired aesthetic and functional requirements for each project. The ideal candidate will possess a strong artistic eye, a thorough understanding of paint application techniques, and the ability to match colors accurately. This role requires a meticulous individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for creating exceptional prototypes.
You'll have...
• 3-5+ years experience as a painter in an automotive refinishing/ restoration environment.
• Experience with a variety of paint application techniques, including spray painting, airbrushing, and hand-brushing.
• Experience with color matching and mixing.
• High attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually.
• Physical job requirements:
o Ability to lift 50-70lbs.
o Stand for long periods of time, bend or twist body, kneel, stoop, or crouch.
Even better, you may have...
• 3-5 years experience in a prototype/design studio or model shop.
• Proficient Class A surfacing.
• Proficient in paint correction/ wet sanding and polishing.

• Ensure proper surface preparation to achieve optimal adhesion and durability of the paint finish.
• Apply a variety of paint finishes, including spray painting, airbrushing, and hand-brushing techniques.
• Mix and match colors accurately to achieve the desired hue and shade.
• Ensure smooth, even, and consistent paint application, free of runs, drips, or imperfections.
• Accurately match colors using visual inspection, color charts, and color-matching software.
• Maintain accurate records of paint formulas and color matches.
• Perform detailing work, such as masking, striping, and applying decals.
• Buff and polish painted surfaces to achieve a smooth and glossy finish.
• Maintain and clean painting equipment, including spray guns, airbrushes, and mixing equipment.
• Ensure proper storage and disposal of paints, solvents, and other materials.
• Work closely with designers, engineers, and model makers to understand project requirements and specifications.
• Inspect painted parts for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines when working with paints, solvents, and other hazardous materials.
• Properly dispose of waste materials and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Maintain a clean and productive workplace
