**Description**
**Protection Application Engineer**
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Perform system protection setting calculation, develop relay logic diagrams, and protection coordination on various Transmission and Distribution projects (up to 345-kV voltage level)
+ Develop design basis documentation for protective settings, relay settings calculations and generate native relay configuration files using SEL’s AcSELerator and GE’s EnerVista software
+ Apply industry standards for the protection of system equipment, including power buses, power transformers, HV/MV circuit breakers, capacitor banks, reactors, transmission lines, and distribution feeders
+ Perform power system modeling and protective relay coordination analysis using ETAP, SKM, ASPEN OneLiner, or Siemens CAPE software is a plus
+ Design calculations, including short circuit calculation, current transformer performance and ratio selection, over-current element coordination, zone-distance element selection and coordination, and relay load ability calculation
+ Provide engineering support with construction and commissioning activities for substations
**Qualifications**
**Qualifications and Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
+ Minimum 4 years of experience in substation protection and control scheme design, and preferred relay setting skills.
+ Master’s degree plus three years of related experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree is acceptable
+ Knowledge of IEC61850 and its implementation is a plus.
+ Strong technical background and ability to communicate effectively with US counterparts.
+ Good understanding of Excel spreadsheets to automate the process
+ Self-motivated, quick learner, and working on quick deadlines
