Actalent is currently seeking a qualified Protection and Controls Engineer for a position in the Portland, OR Metro. As a Protection and Control Engineer, you will perform protective relay studies and schemes to troubleshoot and update relay settings. You will develop and configure new relay settings for power utilities, renewable power generation plants, and industrial clients. Your role will support projects ranging from high voltage relay settings of 115kV to 345kV systems, including substation, transmission, distribution, power generation, and renewable facilities. You will create protection and control drawings and schematics while working with applicable software such as ASPEN OneLiner, CAPE, MathCAD, Excel, SKM, and EasyPower.
ResponsibilitiesPerform protective relay studies and troubleshooting.Develop and configure new relay settings for high voltage systems.Create protection and control drawings and schematics.Work with software: ASPEN OneLiner, CAPE, MathCAD, Excel, SKM, and EasyPower.Engage in project engineering responsibilities, including client interactions and subcontractor management.Mentor and collaborate with junior engineers and internal departments.Support projects of varying durations across the country.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in protection and controls engineering related to 115kV-345kV utility systems.Experience in troubleshooting and performing calculations for relay settings.Proficiency in MathCAD and Excel.Direct experience in protective relaying and designing protection and control drawings/schematics.Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.Additional Skills & QualificationsMaster's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (accounts for fewer years of experience required).Experience with ASPEN and CAPE software is preferred.Experience with AcSELerator Quickset, SKM-PTW, EasyPower, ETAP, RSCAD/RTDS is beneficial.Experience with SCADA systems.Professional Engineering license is preferred.Experience in client/customer-focused engineering projects.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
