Leidos is looking for a Propulsion Engineer, providing research, development, and production engineering support within the Propulsion Division, DEVCOM Armaments Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.
Primary Responsibilities
Work is performed primarily in an office setting, with numerous visits to project sites 25 - 50% of the time.Execute, oversee, and evaluate of varying, development, production and test activities. Ensure continued production quality, assess issues, and conduct root cause analyses when necessary.Develop corrective action plans, design and execute test plans, and analyze and report results. Travel to support recurring test and evaluation activities to verify quality and performance.Understand and interpret technical data packages of munition systems and propulsion components, to ensure conformance to technical and performance requirements.Work across interdisciplinary product teams to ensure understanding and execution of production and development contracts with regards to performance, cost and schedule. Integrate statistical analysis, modeling, and simulation tools where appropriate, to thoroughly assess different production and performance challenges.Regularly interact with project officers, installation/plant officials, contractors, architects, technicians, and engineers, on technical, programmatic, and contractual topics.Document and report technical information and data to senior level engineers and other officials from related organizations.Travel out of state on a regular and recurring basis to project sites; may involve considerable walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and climbing. The work may require working around hot, noisy operating equipment, and wearing of personal protection equipment (PPE).Basic Qualifications
Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering field; Chemical Engineering preferred but Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, and other disciplines considered on a case-by-case basis.
Willing to travel 25-50% of the timeAbility to read, comprehend and provide insight on mechanical drawings and technical data package.Capable of learning to operate thermochemical code, interior ballistics code, MATLAB, and computer aided drawing tools. Ability to work well in a team environment displaying an adequate level of interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with the following is desirable but not necessary: Process Engineering, Industrial Facility Design/Startup, Production Engineering, Chemical Processing, Test and Evaluation. Statistical Analysis, Modeling and Simulation, Development of mechanical drawings in CAD software, Complex Data Analysis
