Introduction

 

We are seeking a Proposal Manager to join our Metso team. The Proposal Manager has overall responsibility for the preparation of qualified equipment and system bids for a designated Product Group. The objective of this position is to produce high quality competitive bids for on-time submittal with accurate cost estimates that facilitate the successful sale and execution of these projects.

 

This position is mainly located in York, PA or Mesa, AZ but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. However, it involves up to 20% travel.  

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare detailed service proposals for equipment maintenance, repairs, and upgrade projects. Prepare a detailed scope of work based on experience, drawings, company procedures, specific instructions, etc. Prepare project cost estimates, detailed costs, margins, contingency, selling price, terms, etc. Create overall engineering, equipment supply, and installation schedules using MS Project. Work in liaison with the various technical support staff within Metso's organization. Communicate with customers on project objectives and clarify proposals as required. Provide ongoing technical support to customers. Follow-up on project cost deviation, cycle times, and Accounts Receivable. Maintain proposal quotation log and filing system for ongoing reference. Assist with investigating mechanical problems and corrective actions/ repair procedures. When appropriate, make recommendations to improve field methods and/or efficiency. Take a leadership position in the planning of larger more complex projects. Visit customers with the sales force to develop and grow service business opportunities. Carry out other service-related tasks as a member of Metso as may be requested by the Manager

 

Who you are

 

Mechanical Engineer (3+ years) or Mechanical Technician with equivalent experience. Experience with heavy equipment (mineral processing) and mechanical contractors. Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce and SAP. Detailed understanding of mining equipment products. Strong leadership and teamwork motivation skills. Autonomous decision-maker with minimal supervision. Excellent English communication skills. Willingness to travel (~20%) to customer sites.
