Description
Are you an accounting professional with at least 2 years of property accounting experience, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for supporting teams in dynamic environments? We’re looking for a talented and dedicated Property Accountant to play a vital role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring tax compliance, and supporting ongoing financial operations across our diverse portfolio of residential properties. In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to the financial health of the organization, working closely with property managers, the accounting team, and leadership. This is an on-site position with core hours being 9-5.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Prepare and/or review bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
+ Generate monthly GAAP financial statement packages for managed property portfolios.
+ Prepare account reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation, including roll-forwards and detailed analysis of balance sheet accounts (A/R, prepaids, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, etc.).
+ Complete month-end GL property close by collaborating with A/P and A/R teams to ensure income and expenses are properly classified.
+ Manage quarter-end accruals and GL reconciliations for assigned property portfolios.
+ Collaborate with property managers to support budgeting, planning/forecasting, and variance analysis throughout the year.
+ Assist in the year-end GL close and work with external partners to complete annual financial audits and tax return preparation.
+ Coordinate the preparation of year-end workpapers and assist outside accountants with audit filings.
+ Partner with the Controller to ensure compliance with HUD, investor, and federal/state regulations, including tax filings.
+ Develop a deep understanding of all accounting processes for managed properties and lead efforts for continuous process improvements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 2 years of property accounting experience or a related accounting role.
+ Strong proficiency in GAAP principles and best practices in accounting.
+ Exceptional data entry skills with an emphasis on accuracy and detail-oriented processes.
+ Proven organizational skills and the ability to meet crucial deadlines.
+ Experience working closely with Property Managers in management accounting functions.
+ Familiarity with year-end audits, tax preparation, and financial statement generation.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as experience with MRI, RealPage or similar accounting software
+ Excellent communication skills with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Additional Skills and Qualities:
+ Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to approach challenges with energy and integrity.
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
+ Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
