Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Property Accountant for a contract role with a reputable real estate and property management company in San Mateo, CA. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your accounting expertise and contribute to the financial success of the organization. Candidates with knowledge of RealPage are highly preferred, as our client utilizes this software for streamlined property accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
+ Daily Accounting Operations: Maintain accurate financial records for assigned properties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
+ Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Analyze variances and provide actionable insights.
+ Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with property managers and leadership to develop and monitor property budgets. Assist with financial forecasts based on revenue and expense trends.
+ Lease Administration: Manage tenant billing, rent collections, and reconcile tenant account balances. Verify rent roll accuracy and prepare tenant statements.
+ Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, local tax regulations, and audit requirements for all financial transactions.
+ Software Expertise: Utilize RealPage for property accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and reporting.
+ Ad Hoc Projects: Assist with special projects, audits, and process improvements as directed by the accounting supervisor or management team.
Requirements
Requirements:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
+ Experience: 3+ years of experience in property accounting or real estate accounting. Knowledge or experience with multi-family or commercial property accounting is a bonus.
+ Software Skills: Experience with RealPage or similar property management software is strongly preferred. Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools is required.
+ Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions and reporting.
+ Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
+ Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and implement creative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
