Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Project Support Officer – Acquisitions in Canberra for a Maritime project.
What You’ll Bring
Demonstrated experience delivering complex Defence acquisition projects within CASG, preferably in a maritime, naval combat systems, or warfighting environment. Sound understanding of Defence project governance, CLC processes, GBE/OBE, and acquisition frameworks. Proven ability to manage competing priorities, deliver under pressure, and work across multidisciplinary teams. Experience with project management tools (e.g., Open Plan, ARM, Predict!), and exposure to ILM and SAP is advantageous. Strong communication skills and Stakeholder management capabilitiesDue to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.

What You’ll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
Support the development, review, and maintenance of acquisition and sustainment documentation including Acquisition Strategy, Project Execution Plan, and Contracting Strategy. Monitor project performance, risks, and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies where appropriate and escalating issues in accordance with governance structures. Prepare and deliver high-quality briefings, reports, and artefacts for senior leadership, Integrated Project Teams (IPTs), and external stakeholders. Oversee and support contract negotiations, Contract Change Proposals (CCPs), and contractor deliverable reviews in collaboration with the Commercial and Legal teams. Contribute to Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) development and maintenance, ensuring alignment with project milestones and Defence readiness timelines
