Project Supervisor
Overview ***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP*** Under the supervision of the Construction Manager, the Project Supervisor provides supervision, oversight and coordination support for the construction efforts of multiple projects. The Project Supervisor acts in concert with the Construction Manager to provide effective leadership and oversight throughout all aspects of the project lifecycle from initiation through close-out and is adept at communicating with various stakeholders to manage expectations and maintain positive relationships. The Project Supervisor is responsible for supervising skilled and unskilled construction teams, as well as subcontractors to achieve quality results, within scope and on-schedule. The Project Supervisor provides: subject matter expertise, technical guidance, training and mentorship to tradesmen. The Project Supervisor ensures compliance with company policies, job-site safety and all administrative requirements. The Project Supervisor participates in the completion of various technical documents to include SOW’s, ROM’s, Technical Volumes, Field Surveys, Risk Assessments and other documents as required. Supervisors conduct internal quality checks and assessments to ensure the quality of work as well as promoting a safety culture throughout the organization and on the job-site. This position requires excellent supervisory skills, along with strong communication and administrative skills and a working knowledge of building codes and the latest construction practices. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Under the direction of the Construction Manager, supervises the construction efforts of multiple projects (New construction, refurbishment, repair orders and assessments). Coordinate resources and efforts with in-house labor teams, subcontractors, materials and supply sections, military clients, end users and management to provide the necessary support to ensure the success of assigned projects. Facilitate and obtain any necessary pre-construction authorizations such as: permits, surveys, etc. Monitor and enforce project schedule, labor forecast and workload requirements to ensure the execution of all planned work. Coordinate logistical resources to ensure that all necessary materials and tools are ordered, inspected, delivered and on-site to accomplish the job. Direct the efforts of Trade Leads to ensure adequate site supervision, employee oversite and safety Supervise the daily activities of construction teams comprised of skilled and unskilled workers as well as subcontractors throughout all phases of construction, including: Inspection and closeout. Coach, teach, and mentor junior employees to ensure a safe, capable and ready work force as well as ensuring the timely and accurate completion of any mandatory, company directed training. Immediately advise the Construction Manager of any changes to project specifications, scope and/or drawings Inspects each phase of work to ensure code compliance, and quality of workmanship requirements are met Utilizes various Project Management tools to monitor and control projects for adherence with scope, schedule, and cost Ensure employee labor hours & project details are accurately captured and submitted to finance and work control systems Inspects projects on a daily basis and provides timely production updates to the Project Construction Manager Provides necessary inputs to ensure the complete and correct closure of projects, which may include: excess material inventory, loss reports, lessons learned, project performance reports, warranty information or other documentation. May participate in the development of construction documents to include, Statements of Work (SOW), Material and Labor Estimates, Risk Assessments, Project Specific Safety Requirements, and other documents as directed. After project execution, responsible for punch list, workmanship follow-up and warranty work as needed Provides input to develop and implement continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance operations Ensures all direct labor and subcontractor personnel comply with Environmental Safety and Health requirements. Adhere to company safety standards and promote safety culture among employees and subcontractors Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. High school diploma with a Two (2) year degree or equivalent work experience in the Residential/Commercial Construction or Construction Management or Project Management fields Must be able to obtain a Host Country Driver's License Experience: Minimum of three (3) years relevant construction experience; Project Management or Construction Management. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience supervising employees. Experience supporting DOD construction efforts a strong plus. Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple construction sites in a fast paced environment Working knowledge of a variety of construction techniques (HVAC, Electrical, Civil and Structural) Ability to read and understand construction schedules, building plans, CAD and “As-Built” drawings Computer proficiency in Microsoft Projects, Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word Strong leadership skills with ability to effectively delegate lead teams and influence others Organized and efficient with attention to detail and excellent follow through Familiar with building codes and the latest industry best-practices Excellent written and oral communication skills Able to safely navigate construction sites, during all phases: including freshly excavated sites, ladders, scaffolding, etc Able to obtain OSHA Construction Safety Certification with competency in one of the 5 High Hazard areas Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Trade Leads, Construction Team and Subcontractors. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
