Project Scheduler Lead
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (In-Office)
JSG is currently recruiting for a Scheduler Lead to support a multi-year infrastructure project with our client in the utilities sector. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a project controls team through the full lifecycle of a major capital project. Position Overview
The Scheduler Lead will be responsible for overseeing a team of schedulers, ensuring the development and maintenance of an accurate, detailed, and dynamic project schedule. This role will involve strategic planning, forecasting, performance tracking, and managing schedule-related changes in alignment with industry best practices. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and technical scheduling expertise to a high-performance project environment. Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Team Oversight Manage, mentor, and guide a team of schedulers to ensure consistency and quality across scheduling deliverables. Provide ongoing support and training to the team on tools, techniques, and best practices. 2. Project Schedule Development & Management Create and maintain a detailed project schedule using Primavera P6. Ensure alignment with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and major milestones. Apply rolling wave planning and other progressive elaboration techniques as needed. 3. Forecasting and Performance Reporting Facilitate bi-weekly to monthly schedule review meetings to monitor progress and forecast future activities. Prepare schedule variance reports and recommend corrective actions. Develop and track scheduling KPIs and performance metrics. 4. Schedule Change Control Implement and manage formal schedule change control processes. Assess, document, and communicate the impacts of schedule changes. Ensure all changes are reviewed and approved per established procedures. 5. Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with project managers, engineers, and key stakeholders to ensure schedule alignment with project goals. Lead schedule review meetings and provide timely, actionable updates to the broader project team. 6. Compliance and Process Improvement Ensure scheduling practices align with PMBOK principles and recognized industry standards. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements based on lessons learned. Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in project scheduling within utilities, infrastructure, or energy projects. Proficiency with Primavera P6. Strong knowledge of PMBOK scheduling principles. Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills. Strong communication and analytical abilities. Preferred: Experience with large-scale infrastructure or capital projects. Familiarity with project risk and cost control processes. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply directly to JSG.
