Key Responsibilities:

The Purpose of this position is to work with local teachers and identify training needs to improve teaching and learning. Enhance quality teaching and learning in the classrooms through interactive in-service sessions that equip teachers with age-appropriate approaches and strategies to support early literacy and create child-friendly learning environment. Also Strengthening the learning environment through coordinated investments in sharing classroom setting learnings, disseminate information about innovative practices and involve Education officials at National, provincial and district levels in planning, implementation and evaluation of the project activities. 

 

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Program Management and Evaluation 

Coordinate and consult with Project Coordinator to ensure smooth running of education project activities at communities and schools  

Organize public meetings at schools and communities for project activities awareness and meetings 

Provide expertise where intervention, planning and implementation is required through training the communities, and children on the project aims and goals 

Coordinate & mobilize the resources and requirements of the project activities. 

Quality Assurance 

Monitor and evaluate project objectives, make recommendations as appropriate 

Design standard/protocols for training interventions  

Develop training materials to suite the local context, language  

Assess and provide support to the community members & leaders through regular on-site supervisory and advisory visits to enhance communities’ competence 

Representation & Networking 

Develop and maintain excellent relationships with partners, local organizations and community groups  

Promote discussions with community leaders to evaluate. 

Documentation 

Provide monthly statistical reports on-time 

Provide monthly progress reports, assist in compilation of quarterly, biannual, annual and end of project report 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE 

Minimum of Bachelor's degree or college qualification in Education 

Certificate in primary teaching or community development background 

2-3 years’ experience in teaching or involve in education program 

Experience in community development as a background 

Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing 

Experience in Community mobilization and leadership role 

Experience in teaching 

Sound knowledge in PNG education systems and programs 

Ability to commit and punctual to schedule activities 

Results oriented and meets dateline 

Ability to work independently. 

Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity 

Basic understanding of project management cycle principles  

Effective in written and oral communication; able to speak and write with a high standard of English. 

Computer literate 

Communication, advocacy & facilitation skills
